Nestled on the picturesque Sipora island in the Southern Mentawai archipelago, Baha Baha Mentawai's Villa Sailo offers unparalleled access to the world-renowned Lance's right. Our private villa has four spacious en suite bedrooms, each comfortably accommodating two in your choice of twin or double layouts, plus a stunning beachfront suite with double bed.
Set on powdery white sands and bordered by crystal-clear waters, it provides accessibility to seven different nearby waves. The villa's beautiful interiors complement the natural beauty of the surroundings, making it an ideal retreat for groups of up to ten people traveling together.
The adventure doesn't stop at surfing; the nearby ocean and dense jungle are perfect for exploration, fishing, kayaking, paddleboarding, snorkeling, and a range of other outdoor activities. We have a close relationship with local Mentawai guides and businesses who will happily help you organize tours, activities, and transportation while contributing to the wellbeing of Sipora's residents and economy.

The Waves
Lance's Right (Hollow Tree's)
An iconic barreling right-hander on the eastern side of Sipora, Lance's attracts surfers worldwide. On a SW swell, it ranks among the top ten waves globally, bending and wrapping 180°.
The wave can tube rapidly or offer wide sets based on swell direction and size. It provides varied take-off spots, with high tide being safer and low for experts. Its perfection and challenge make it a must on any Mentawai trip.
Lance's Left
Lance's Left, a consistent left-hander, is a short ride from our villa and a haven for
goofy footers. Known for its year-round consistency, it boasts a long wall with
barrels, amplified by a SW swell funneling into the line-up.
Suitable for all surfers and tides, it has a barreling take-off and an open face for
maneuvers. With multiple take-off points, it's ideal for refining turns or pushing
boundaries. It's a preferred choice when HT's is onshore.
When To Visit South Sipora
The Mentawai Islands are a haven for surfers, offering consistent and quality surf throughout the year.
Located in an extremely wave-rich region, South Sipora features some of the best breaks in the region - long lefts and rights, barrel perfection, rippable walls, heavy slabs, and fun beach breaks - with many accessible options catering to all surfing levels and preferences.
You can expect:
April/May to October: Biggest swells of the year, ideal for experienced surfers seeking thrilling barrels and epic surf
• November to February/March: Consistently smaller fun swells and mainly offshore winds at Lance's Right. Perfect for easier and less crowded surfing.
Villa Sailo Packages

• Assistance with transport to and from Padang to our villa

Getting To Villa Sailo
Arriving to Padang
Plan to reach Padang, West Sumatra, a day before your scheduled check-in. For international or domestic flights to Padang Airport (PDG), aim for an early arrival to offset potential flight delays.
We can help arrange transfers to your selected Padang hotel for your overnight stay, including Meet-and-Greet airport services. We recommend the Mercure Hotel Padang.
Mentawai Fast Ferry
Should you wish to take the Mentawai Fast, the private local boat to Tua Pejat leaves at 11 a.m. please allow time for us to transport your boards, suitcases, etc. We will assist in transferring these items to the boat.
Our staff will assist with all baggage fees, loading, and unloading in Tua Pejat and Padang. We can help you arrange transportation to the airport when you leave, similar to your arrival arrangements.
Transfer to Baha Baha Mentawai Villa Sailo, Sipora Island
Four options are available for your journey from Padang to Katiet:
• Private charter boat
• Private charter plane (will accept surfboards)
• Mentawai Fast ferry (departures on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays)
• Public aircraft (twice weekly; departures on Tuesdays & Fridays only; does not accept surfboards)
If you're taking the Mentawai Fast Ferry, you must stay overnight in Padang. The next morning, head to the Fast Ferry Terminal. Ensure you depart from your hotel by 6 a.m. for the 7 a.m. Mentawai Fast Ferry departure. We can help you organize this transfer.
The journey to the Mentawai Islands, specifically to Tua Pejat on Sipora Island, takes around 3.5 to 4.5 hours. The Mentawai Fast, a 200-seat vessel with toilets and a snack bar, operates on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. In Tua Pejat, you will be met by our local car driver, who will take you on a 1.5-hour scenic ride to Katiet.

Departure from Padang
Plan to depart Padang the day after your check-out date from Villa Sailo, scheduling your outgoing flight after 11:30 a.m. We can help you arrange transport from the Mentawai Fast terminal to your overnight hotel, then to the airport the next day.
